Afleet Alex ran in 9th for a good part of the race hanging on back. Rose kept waiting and waiting until you thought it would never happen to make his move. And it worked. Afleet Alex won by 7 lengths. Andromeda's Hero came in second and Nolan's Cat, the maiden, came in third another 6 3/4 lengths back.
